There Is Importance In Who You Surround Yourself With! 🫶🏼
It’s no secret that who you surround yourself with has a direct impact on who you grow to be. In the season that you’re in, how would you describe your friendships? Are they life-giving? Are they friendships that make you a better person? Or friendships that point you further away from the Lord? 1 Corinthians 15:33 puts it pretty bluntly— “Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character'”.
When we surround ourselves with like-minded people, we set ourselves up for success. We are called to point those around us towards Jesus, and the hope is that we have friends that will do the same for us in return. “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!” When David writes this, “brothers” means brothers and sisters in Christ. There is something special about friendships that are walking with the Lord!
What This Means For Us
When we surround ourselves with like-minded people, we are allowing other people into our lives who have the ability to point us to the Lord on a daily basis. Proverbs 27:17— “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another”. As you think about the people in your circle, are they like-minded and life-giving? Or are they pointing you towards things that are not strengthening your faith?
If you find yourself in a situation with friends who aren’t sharpening you as Proverbs 27 says, don’t worry!! There are so many different ways to create friendships that will bring you closer to the Lord. First off, get involved at your church or campus ministry!
