What the Bible Says About Loneliness
Every person goes through seasons of loneliness, it’s unavoidable. Especially in college and post-grad seasons, there might be times where you feel alone. But what does the Bible say about these moments? Psalm 62:8 says “Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us” and Psalm 147:3 says “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up our wounds”. In times where you feel lonely, it’s important to lean into the Lord! He is our ultimate refuge, and provides us comfort and rest in times where we feel isolated and sad. Not only can we rest in the refuge our heavenly father provides, but we can take heart because we were not made to be alone! We can combat loneliness by leaning into the Lord, and remaining hopeful and expectant!
What This Means For Us
The Lord does not want us to feel isolated. We were made for relationships! So in the times where you might feel lonely, remember that the Lord does not want you to be sad or feel lonely. He designed us for relationships, and will bring the right people into your life who point you towards Him. So the next time you feel lonely, lean into the Lord! We have a friend in Jesus. Not only that, but he will bring you life-giving friendships that will bring you even closer to Him! In seasons of loneliness, be sure to lean into the Lord. Rest in the fact that he loves you, and he will bring you the life-giving friendships you are praying for. Not only will you find peace in Christ and His friendship, but you can find hope in the friendships that the Lord will place or already has placed in your life!
